Demo games

Try your hand at these exciting games to be demoed on Friday, and through Dragonfire, including CCGs on Saturday...

Friday

Games to be demoed on Friday include:

  • Blood Bowl (football with orcses) run by Tim & Yancke
  • Inspectres (part Ghostbusters, part .com startup - a roleplaying game by Jared Sorenson) run by Nenad
  • Munchkin card game tournament (bad bad roleplaying turned into a card game) run by Reuel
  • Universalis (collaborative storytelling) run by d@vid

Blood Bowl

To be run by Tim & Yancke.

"Good evening sports fans and welcome to the Blood Bowl for this afternoon's contest. You join us as the wood elf team, the Elfheim Eagles, last year's champions, are taking the field. It should be a good match against the up-and-coming orc team, the Greenskin Skullz, right Jim?"

"That's right, Bob. And it should be particularly interesting today as both teams are being coached by rookie managers - there's sure going to be a lot of carnage."

A demo of Games Workshop's fantasy football game. The basic rules are very quick and easy to learn.

Universalis

To be run by d@vid

Start off with the proverbial blank slate and build up a complete story, no GM required!

All players buy elements of the setting, characters and events. Straightforward spending, bidding and complication mechanics. Also reviewed (rather frothily) in CLAWmarks 31.

Saturday evening CCGs

  • "Lookey here varmints - you git down to the square by high noon if you don't wanna see the other side of Boot Hill."
  • "That's what the Corps want you to believe, but what they're really after is power. All the power. All the time."
  • "It was our last best hope for peace."
  • "You have no honour!"

Join pickup games of some of the most flavourful CCGs we can find. Not every CCG hits the heights of Magic and Vampire but not for lack of cool story and interesting game mechanics. Bring your own cards if you have, but a selection of decks will be available for those just wanting to try the games out. Expect a non-competitive and experimental atmosphere with plenty of pizza.

Games that will be available will include Doomtown, Netrunner, Babylon 5 and Legend of the Five Rings... and any others that look cool enough to give a whirl. (Bring yer own!)

The marshalls/CEOs/ambassadors are Ryan and Tim.
